    A Christmas celebration to remember!

The year closed with a bang for B2B marketing agency as they organised a day and night to remember for their staff to say thank you for yet another exciting and prosperous year.

The day started in the morning with mince pies, Christmas tunes, crazy hats and some office admin. At 1.45pm all staff were called together to be briefed by MD Mike Butler, put into teams, address a Challenge and head down to their awaiting limos. The teams were headed by MD’s Maeve McDonald and Mike Butler, as well as Operations Director Spencer Marlow with the objective to drive into central London to complete as many challenges in the allocated time as possible, gaining additional points for initiative and risk taking.

3 hours of hilarity ensued with the teams fighting for first prize. Challenges included, ‘Make a public address’ and ‘Take an embarrassing photo’, and even those shyer members of the team, let their hair down for the event, taking photographic evidence in some very compromising situations!

Once back at the office, the teams headed over to Doukan where they had the restaurant exclusively hired for the night. After a fantastic drinks and canapé reception and a sumptuous 3 course Moroccan dinner, the B2B marketing agency was treated to belly dancing, and karaoke.

Managing Director Mike Butler said ‘We wanted to say a massive thank you to the whole agency for their efforts this year. They are what makes the company what we are today and we felt they deserved a very special Christmas send off.’

The party went on into the early hours, with some very sore heads the next day. All agreed, it was a night to remember and a fantastic way to welcome in Christmas 2011.

‘Movember’, now a global charity event, is dedicated to raising money for the UK’s leading prostate cancer charity, each year receiving more and more supporters. Olly said ‘being the only team member up for the challenge this year was daunting, but soon overcome by the prospect of contributing to this great charity event’.

B2B marketing agency raises £800 in Battersea Power Station charity abseil

On Sunday 20th November, 5 brave members of the McDonald Butler team swallowed their fears and gallantly abseiled down London’s famous Battersea Power Station in the name of charity. The initially ‘gung-ho’ team admitted that once there, the enormity of the task became apparent. However, not ones to back out of a challenge, however terrifying, the brave 5, completed the task and in doing so raised £800 in aid of the Stroke Association.

Named the ‘High Voltage Abseil’, the challenge was set to help raise awareness and funds for the UK’s third biggest killer, strokes, which affect 120,000 people every year in the UK.

Marisa Pugh who took part in the abseil said ‘it was one thing to discuss the abseil before the event, but quite another to see the task there in front of us! However, with the charity in mind, we all supported each other and with a bit of team encouragement - and the promise of a stiff drink at the end - we all completed it.’

It has been another dedicated year for this technology marketing where charity is concerned, and the challenges seem to be getting bigger and better. Seeing the energy and commitment this technology marketing agency puts everything it does, it’s no wonder they were awarded ‘Top 20 Marcomms Agency’ last month by B2B Marketing.

B2B Marketing Agency takes 'Leap of Faith' at 2011 Company Away Day!

The McDonald Butler team enjoyed their 2011 Company Away Day on Tuesday 5th April at a team building extravaganza in Oxford. This annual agency event, saw the morning dedicated to knowledge sharing and achievements from 2010 and goals and ambitions for 2011. The afternoon was packed with team building activities....some of which were not for the faint hearted!

After a recent company reorganisation, the day was a great chance for the McDonald Butler team to get together and give an update as to what the new financial year holds. Held at 'A Day In The Country' at the beautiful Upper Aynho Grounds in Banbury, the morning was met with cautious excitement as the rain warned of a potentially very wet afternoon outside. However, after a fantastic lunch, and a breakthrough of sun, the 4 teams got to work on the Low Ropes, High Ropes – including the 'Leap Of Faith', Clay Pigeon Shooting and The Giant Marble Run. The aim of the afternoon was to improve communication skills within the teams and ensure plenty of team banter and encouragement, especially at the Leap of Faith, a daring jump from a 15m telegraph pole onto a nearby suspended trapeze!

It has been another very successful year for the technology marketing agency with 15 new clients and a 20% revenue growth, resulting in 97% of the target being reached. The agency is working to get even stronger in 2011, and with the courage and ambition shown on the Company Away Day, they have just the team behind them to ensure this will happen.

A hairy month for B2B marketing agency McDonald Butler!

The McDonald Butler men are bracing themselves for a slightly uncomfortable month in November when they participate in ‘Movember’. This charity event was set up in 2003 to raise money and awareness for The Prostate Cancer Charity (TPCC), the UK’s leading prostate cancer charity, and involves men all over the world growing a moustache throughout the month (beards are not allowed!).

A fundraising website has been set up by McDonald Butler with an aim to raise £2,000. Echoing the efforts of the McDonald Butler girls who raised £1300 for cancer in this year’s Race For Life, the boys are hoping to smash that record.

McDonald Butler jumps up the B2B Marketing Agency League Table

Despite last year’s difficult economical climate, McDonald Butler has continued to make its’ mark on the marketing agency world. Mid October saw B2B Marketing publish their 2010 agency league table results citing McDonald Butler at position 26, a jump of 6 places from position 32 in 2009.

Positioning is based upon an agency’s gross income figures, staff numbers and general growth and development over the year. McDonald Butler had a storming 2009 bringing in 20 new clients, with 95% retained clients and 100% team growth, with 2010 looking slightly slower but equally exciting.

Joel Harrison at B2B Marketing noted “Clearly the recession hit many specialist B2B agencies hard, some harder than others, as the league table demonstrates, with nine agencies shrinking in the last financial year, and a further four remaining static in terms of income.” With this in mind, McDonald Butler, can take enormous pride in its’ new positioning.

Reiterated by Joel Harrison’s words, “Our congratulations go to....all agencies in this league table. Surviving what was reported to be the toughest recession since the great depression is an incredible achievement.”

The team at McDonald Butler love a challenge and are already working towards a goal of being in the top 10 by 2012 – and with the determination this agency has, that certainly seems ‘do-able’.

McDonald Butler toasted the summer in style on Wednesday 11th August with an ‘Old School Sports Day’ themed summer party on Wandsworth Common. With staff dressed in school uniform and sports day attire, the afternoon of light hearted fun was enjoyed by the whole company as a thank you for all their hard work. Sports Day favourites such as Egg and Spoon Race, Sack Race, Three Legged Race, Wheelbarrow Race and Relays took place with the company split into 6 teams. Those with a competitive spirit were exposed as the winners’ board was updated by judges Charlotte and Cassie. The winning ‘green’ team was then presented with its gold medal by MD Mike Butler dressed as an old school matron. Runners up ‘blue’ team received silver and ‘yellow’ team the bronze medals.

The afternoon spilled into the evening and early hours with team bonding drinks and dancing - and some delicate heads the following morning!

    Sky's the Limit

'Sky's the Limit' for B2B Marketing agency McDonald Butler!

Saturday 17th June 2010: No challenge is too big for the McDonald Butler team. Used to focusing on marketing ROI and sales pipelines, on 17th June this temporarily fell from their radar as 3 key members of McDonald Butler's personnel took part in a tandem skydive, for fun. Mike Butler – MD, Michelle Urwin – Senior Account Manager and Vasily Zakharov – Interactive Designer arrived at RAF Weston on the Green for a day that really proved that the 'Sky's the Limit'! The 8,500 ft tandem skydive was the idea of Vasily, a keen skydiver, who managed to talk Mike and Michelle into joining him.

Of the skydive, Mike Butler said 'I'm always up for a challenge but from now on, I think I'll stick to tackling client challenges instead!" Filming the event was Mark Thomson – Market Development Manager at Zebra Technologies, another skydive enthusiast, who joined the skydive and captured it on a short video.

£10,000 in 10 days for Haiti

Marketing agency McDonald Butler raises over £10,000 for UNICEF UK at Charity Auction

12th February 2010: On Wednesday 10th February McDonald Butler hosted over 100 guests at the poolside setting of the Haymarket Hotel to raise money for UNICEF and Haiti. The charity auction which saw 20 of the McDonald Butler staff auction themselves off raised over £10,000 for the charity. The idea to host a charity auction for Haiti was conceived just 10 days prior to the event with the McDonald Butler team pulling together to arrange not only the auction of its staff but also a charity raffle with prizes including a Flip video camera, Motorola mobile phone, styling session at celebrity salon James Brown London and an exclusive England rugby shirt signed by this years Six Nations team.

UNICEF UK has so far raised £5million, most of which has already been transferred to the field. The charity is hoping to raise at least £10million in total of which the McDonald Butler contribution is part of. Founders and joint managing directors of McDonald Butler, Mike Butler and Maeve McDonald were included in the line up of people being auctioned raising over £1,000 just between the two of them. Maeve comments: "We couldn't believe it when we totalled up the amount raised and found out that it was over £10,000. The tragedy that has struck Haiti is one that has touched us all and we can't thank our friends, family and clients for digging deep to help us raise this staggering amount in such a short space of time and in particular to all those who so generously donated prizes to our raffle including our clients Cisco and Motorola."
